Santa Maria Rezzonico, Lake Como
Rezzonico is a hamlet of the municipality of San Siro, on the western shore of Lake Como, at the foot of Mount Bregagno. It was once an independent municipality under the name Santa Maria Rezzonico until 1928.
It is a small and very pretty village of houses leaning against each other, crisscrossed by narrow, steep streets with beautiful arches and arcades. Here it is possible to relax on the small - and uncrowded - beaches, far from the big tourist centers of the lake. It is certainly one of the lesser-known villages on the Lario, but it is among the most intimate and welcoming.
What to do, to visit and to see in Santa Maria Rezzonico
Do not expect large villas and museums from Rezzonico; it is actually a small town, dominated by an imposing castle built in the second half of the 14th century by the Della Torre family.
It was built as a fortification, quite similar to the castles of Corenno Plinio and Vezio Castle in Perledo.
The beauty of Rezzonico lies in its intimacy and charm, as it is a quiet old village. Just stroll through its small streets and look around yourself in the village until you reach the lakeshore, where a splendid little square will lull your gaze!
Particularly charming is the arcade, under which often are nets, historical fishing objects and a small photo gallery on display.
