How Giardini della Valle came to be

The Valley Gardens are managed by a nonprofit association that focuses on the preservation, maintenance and improvement of the gardens.
The idea of transforming an illegal dump, located in the valley along the wall of Villa d'Este in Cernobbio, into a garden was conceived by Mrs. Pupa Frati, affectionately known as Nonna Pupa.
The area where the Garden is located today was, until the 1980s, a squatter dump located along the boundary wall of Villa d'Este in Cernobbio, along the Garrovo stream. Mrs, Pupa Frati was convinced that it was necessary to remedy that degradation.

Through the take a book/leave a book initiative, the Garden supports the Little Free Library movement, thus contributing to the development of the social and cultural fabric, exchange of ideas and goods.
Every year, our library enthusiastically participates in the book relay of the Books on the Run event.

Art and Culture

When wood comes to life. These wood carvings are genuine artistic masterpieces. Made with great care and skill by Giò Aramini, they depict wild animals in an abstract but faithful way. For years, these sculptures have enlivened the Garden and invited young and old to play. It is a unique experience that you will not be able to forget.
