Sightseeing tours, things to do and place to stay in Blevio, Lake Como.
Visit Blevio, Lake Como
Driving from Como along the road Statale Regina 583 in the direction of Bellagio, the first village you encounter is Blevio. The origin of the village probably dates back to the Iron Age. The characteristic layout of the oldest settlements suggests the presence of a castellum, typical of this historical period.
Blevio is known as the Municipality of the Seven Towns; there are in fact seven historical hamlets here: Girola, Capovico, Sopravilla, Sorto, Mezzovico, Meggianico and Cazzanore. Only the hamlet of Girola lies on the shores of the lake and is well separated from the others, which are indeed developed on the mountains behind.
Blevio lives mainly on tourism; it is a popular destination beloved for its tranquility, its amazing panoramic position on the lake, and its wonderful villas: Villa Ferranti, Villa Belvedere (formerly Malpensata), Villa Borletti - Chiara, Villa Maria (also known as Villa Usuelli), Villa Cademartori, Villa Ravasi, Villa Troubetzkoy, Villa Roccabruna, Villa Da Riva, and Villa Al Poncett.
A special attention is given to the Mandarin Hotel, a luxury resort opened in 2010 and already made famous as the historic Casta Diva.
What to do, to visit and to see in Bellagio
Discovering the villas of Blevio.
Our tour starts here (45.84563132051571, 9.106460641109054), at 104 E. Caronti Street, there is a small free parking lot.
Walk south, keeping the lake on your right and paying close attention: the street has no sidewalk. At number 86, the lovely Villa Costanza, a mansion that also offers B&B, appears on your left.
When you arrive near house number 70, near a very narrow house with the historical sign Lucini, go down the small street on your right: a beautiful view of the small village by the lake will soon open up: we are in the hamlet of Girola.

Castle of Ardona
The castle is located near the border with Torno, and its ruins are almost entirely hidden by vegetation. It was built by Professor Angelo Ruspini in 1894. Here a fun fact: when he died, since he had no direct heirs, it became the property of his housekeeper who, shortly thereafter, passed it on to the Comense Dyeing Company Group. The castle, for a short time, was then a summer residence for the children of the employees. However, it was later abandoned.
The castle can be reached from the path climbing to Montepiatto, or from San Maurizio by taking the Voltiano lighthouse path, near the hut Baita Carla.
