The Route 65 one of the most beautiful scenic itineraries on Lake Como.
The route 65 is one of the most beautiful scenic itineraries on Lake Como and in Italy: One road, one show! It provides such extraordinary views that it deserves the title reminiscent of the glorious American road.
Altogether 26 km long, the route runs through the Regional Park of Northern Grigna and winds through the adorable municipalities of Bellano, Cortenova, Taceno, Parlasco, Esino Lario, and Perledo.
The Scenic Route 65 can be traveled in both directions and by any means: car, motorcycle, or bicycle (but the latter only by the well-trained, as the gradients are considerable). Great views and points of interest are constantly scattered among its many hairpin bends: they are absolutely not to be missed! The most extraordinary view- point is the terrace that opens onto the lake just after crossing the Agueglio Pass. From here you can admire the three branches of Lake Como.
There is no need to rush: take your time, enjoy the panorama and benefit from the convenient rest area with tables and benches.

The Itinerary
The itinerary begins in Cortenova (483 asl), the heart of Valsassina, at the intersection with provincial road 62. It continues toward Parlasco and climbs to Agueglio Pass (1142 asl, the highest point of the route) encountering Mount Albiga (900 asl) and Mount San Defendente (1321 asl).
A long descent begins from the pass which will take you just before Esino Lario, where a fork in the road allows you to reach the Cainallo pass and the access points to the Northern Grigna.
The descent continues mid-coast down the Val d'Esino, passing first through Esino Lario and then though the town of Perledo crossing the hamlets of Bologna, Selva, Regolo and Olivedo. In the latter locality, the Scenic Route 65 joins the Provincial Road 72 (SP72) and comes here to an end.
Warning
The road may be closed during winter or interrupted due to frequent landslides. Therefore, pay the utmost attention.
