Villa Carlotta in Tremezzo is one of the beautiful villas on Lake Como. We can say that it is a gem of astonishing beauty, thanks to its rich botanical garden and its rooms with excellent art masterpieces.
Marquis Giorgio Clerici had it built in the late 1600s and chose the very shore of Lake Como that offers spectacular and breathtaking scenery of Bellagio and the Grigna.
The next owner, Gian Battista Sommariva, enriched the villa with works of art including masterpieces by Canova, Thorvaldsen and Hayez and transformed part of the garden into an extraordinary romantic park.
Villa Carlotta is famous for the spectacular spring blooms of the azaleas and rhododendrons, which come in more than 150 varieties. But any time of year is the right time to visit its magnificent garden: ancient specimens of camellias, century-old cedars and sequoias, immense plane trees and exotic essences, which alternate harmoniously to create different environments, offering the visitor different and always exciting scenarios and sensations.
